02:50 soreau:is curious where gfxstrand has been for awhile
02:50 soreau: extended holiday leave?
02:50 soreau: taking a break from the insanity that is NVK? :P
02:52 airlied: working on panfrost
05:24 Blaine: hello am back so the settings you guys told me to try for tesla k80 didn't work and it crashed so now I am compiling and have it try the tesla k40 (gk110 settings) also I now have kernel 6.17.9 installed
10:48 soreau: airlied: aha
10:49 soreau: I figured they were hiding somewhere around here ;)
18:37 Blaine: Hi im back got the tesla k80 working by using the gk110 config but there is a significant performance loss but I will test a little more to make sure
19:12 mhenning[d]: You might be able to manually enable reclocking, which would help with performance
19:27 karolherbst: Though there are some gaps int he reclocking code and I think we can end up with a config that actually sets a low clock without us realizing it
19:39 Blaine: Blaine sorry busy with other stuff. how could I reclock when I have time later. Also I need tools to see the current clock speed, params, etc.
19:43 Blaine: if you guys are the nouveau devs you really need to make a wiki. I would love to contribute directly and stop bothering you all but this is the one link that wasn't dead or led to a unmaintined repo on nouveau.freedesktop.org
19:48 Blaine: I think what you are all doing is great. My motivation for all this is that as I am a physicist I often use gpus to accelerate my workflow however I really don't like cuda and the close source drivers as it bars entry to everything maxwell and above.
20:33 HdkR: asdasdasdasdasdasdasdadasdadsasd
20:33 HdkR: oops
20:40 soreau: HdkR: it's wwwwwwwwwwwdddddsssssssssaaawwwwww
20:40 soreau: learn how to play xD
20:57 violet_purple_red[d]: Enlisted crashes with nvk
21:09 mhenning[d]: violet_purple_red[d]: Please file a bug report https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues
21:09 violet_purple_red[d]: mhenning[d]: I'll do it
21:10 violet_purple_red[d]: But also Cyberpunk has alot of graphical bugs with nvk
21:10 violet_purple_red[d]: I should file a big report for it as well
21:14 karolherbst[d]: is it an older gpu? or newer?
21:14 violet_purple_red[d]: Also another weird quirk is that overwatch has high cpu usage even though it runs on the dgpu?
21:14 karolherbst[d]: or old mesa
21:14 violet_purple_red[d]: karolherbst[d]: Rtx 4080
21:14 violet_purple_red[d]: Ada Lovelace
21:14 karolherbst[d]: ahh
21:15 violet_purple_red[d]: karolherbst[d]: I use the on provided by package manager, not git
21:15 violet_purple_red[d]: So it might be a bit outdated
21:15 karolherbst[d]: violet_purple_red[d]: well it would be unplayable rendered on the CPU, but yeah.. would be good to profile where it's coming from. Could always be the game tho
21:15 karolherbst[d]: violet_purple_red[d]: yeah.. might be a good idea to test with latest. Most distros have custom repos with mesa-git
21:16 karolherbst[d]: mesa gets EOLed upstream very quickly
21:16 mhenning[d]: There's already a bug open for cyberpunk https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/13786
21:16 karolherbst[d]: so depending on your distros version you might not get any updates
21:16 violet_purple_red[d]: mhenning[d]: I saw it
21:16 violet_purple_red[d]: Mine is a bit different though
21:16 violet_purple_red[d]: It's more about the textures
21:17 mhenning[d]: Okay, might be different then. Feel free to file a new issue
21:17 karolherbst[d]: anyway, if you are using 25.2 or 25.3 you should just file a bug 🙃
21:17 violet_purple_red[d]: karolherbst[d]: I'll do it tomorrow
21:18 violet_purple_red[d]: I just was caught up with making steam work first
21:18 karolherbst[d]: ohh wait.. 25.2 is also EoL now 🥲 but still likely it's an upstream bug with that
21:18 violet_purple_red[d]: karolherbst[d]: Mine is 25.3 iirc
21:18 karolherbst[d]: ahh
21:18 karolherbst[d]: that's new enough 🙂
22:53 _lyude[d]: airlied[d]: same bug 🙂
22:53 _lyude[d]: disabling inherit fixes it immediately
22:56 _lyude[d]: no wonder I couldn't figure this out, I think I tried everything other then doing that
22:59 _lyude[d]: thinking about this more too: I wouldn't be surprised if eDP flicker-free boot just isn't a thing with nvidia it seems like a lot of hassle for them to try to implement it when I don't think there's any new laptops that driver their internal display with the nvidia GPU
23:37 airlied[d]: I think it can be made work, just not sure what sequence is needed, HDMI doesn't work either at boot, so I expect some problem
