00:20fdobridge: <magic_rb.> Is gamescope working now? 👀👀
00:21fdobridge: <magic_rb.> I can get you modded minecraft, bg3, arma3 and kcd
00:21fdobridge: <magic_rb.> I can get you modded minecraft, bg3, arma3 and kcd tomorrow (edited)
02:26fdobridge: <gfxstrand> Should be if you use the modifiers branch.
03:44fdobridge: <redsheep> Wonderful to see that fixed, I will do some more testing in a bit and get some nice screenshots to choose from
06:24fdobridge: <gfxstrand> I just rebased the modifiers branch on main to pick up !29147
06:35fdobridge: <redsheep> I'm building now for testing, hopefully all the recent zink fixes help too
06:37fdobridge: <Sid> what's the ideal patches to have on top of main right now?
06:38fdobridge: <Sid> I've got the conservative rasterization MR in my build system
06:39fdobridge: <redsheep> There's that, I don't see much else that's recently rebased enough to easily use
06:46fdobridge: <redsheep> Corruption in discord isn't gone but I think radv has that too, and I am pretty sure the recent fixes cleared my various flickering issues in with kde software
06:49fdobridge: <redsheep> Heaven with MSAA looks great now, very nice.
06:53fdobridge: <redsheep> Hmm I am still getting some artifacting on the desktop here and there, and my wayland session is still black. Let me see if I can finally test launching gears on that
07:00fdobridge: <!DodoNVK (she) 🇱🇹> I guess the next correct rendering goal would be Cyberpunk 2077 :cursedgears:
08:03fdobridge: <redsheep> Alright with @tiredchiku 's help I finally managed to fight through all the obstacles and launch vkcube-wayland in my broken plasma wayland session, and I can confirm it works
08:03fdobridge: <Sid> what about eglgears_wayland
08:04fdobridge: <redsheep> Uggh I can't easily go back to replicate. Either way, clearly since I can get anything to load in the broken session at all just kwin alone is not enough to replicate the issue
08:08fdobridge: <redsheep> Given that result kwin itself is not broken, instead something falls over with the rest of the desktop coming up. Also, the cube was only running at 1 fps unless I moved the mouse. Probably just something with this weird scenario though.
08:10fdobridge: <redsheep> Also, to be honest while these things would be nice to fix, as I consider it I don't think anything about that should deter merging the modifiers MR. It was already broken in just that very same way, and it's not like zink is getting defaulted on. Everything else shows no sign that when you aren't using zink that anything is regressed.
09:42fdobridge: <redsheep> Now if that's not photogenic I dunno what is. This game started working out of the box sometime in the last few weeks
09:42fdobridge: <redsheep> https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1034184951790305330/1238788218376421477/image.png?ex=66408eee&is=663f3d6e&hm=e1c7be29a861f9ac598873ded20ad0e0cbd14d8b29943a3484df0da1273be8fd&
09:44fdobridge: <redsheep> Ah apparently vsync was on, this is even better
09:44fdobridge: <redsheep> https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1034184951790305330/1238788717775294565/image.png?ex=66408f65&is=663f3de5&hm=3e9f8a2d3993677b1d3e179e3131efa846867e85ecc8b7ab53a0867abbb0ec91&
09:44fdobridge: <Sid> nice
09:45fdobridge: <redsheep> I think that would be a good picture for the blog. Recently fixed title, dx12, gamescope, and even good performance
10:47fdobridge: <Sid> starting with driver series 560, openrm are going to be default on the proprietary driver
10:49fdobridge: <Sid> https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/unix-graphics-feature-deprecation-schedule/60588
10:50fdobridge: <Sid> 2025 *might* actually see Maxwell V2, maybe even Pascal, get dropped from Nvidia's driver
11:04fdobridge: <esdrastarsis> Generally, Nvidia stops supporting an architecture in the x70 version, so 470 for Kepler, 570 for Maxwell and so on
11:05fdobridge: <huntercz122> i still see reddit users being proud of their GTX 1080 Ti purchases this year
11:05fdobridge: <Sid> which is why I said 2025, yeah
11:05fdobridge: <Sid> second half of 2025 specifically
11:08fdobridge: <huntercz122> sister's boyfriend still has a GTX 970
11:08fdobridge: <huntercz122> and laptop with GTX 1050
11:08fdobridge: <huntercz122> 💀
11:08fdobridge: <huntercz122> my sister's boyfriend still has a GTX 970 (edited)
11:12fdobridge: <magic_rb.> I have a 1060 in my desktop :(
11:12fdobridge: <marysaka> Maxwell B is like... already 10 years old isn't it
11:13fdobridge: <!DodoNVK (she) 🇱🇹> I think it's actually faster than my current Turing GPU
11:13fdobridge: <Sid> yup
11:14fdobridge: <Sid> and pascal is also ~8 years old
11:14fdobridge: <Sid> turing is 6 years old too
11:14fdobridge: <magic_rb.> Turing is 20xx?
11:16fdobridge: <huntercz122> i still have GT 430 and GTX 460 above my closet collecting dust lol
11:16fdobridge: <Sid> RTX 2000 series and GTX 1600 series, yes
11:17fdobridge: <magic_rb.> it seems like it was only last year when those were the hot new thing
11:17fdobridge: <magic_rb.> time is weird
11:18fdobridge: <huntercz122> tbh i would trade my laptop with friend's computer with rx 580
11:20fdobridge: <Sid> I hate my laptop
11:20fdobridge: <Sid> I'm never getting rid of it
11:24fdobridge: <huntercz122> i have enough money for PC build, but GPUs are so expensive
11:25fdobridge: <huntercz122> and also not entirely comfortable for building one lol
11:25fdobridge: <huntercz122> i already broke heatsink once
11:27fdobridge: <Sid> used market will save you on the GPU
11:27fdobridge: <Sid> legit
11:28fdobridge: <Sid> I've gt 3060Tis for half their list price on the used market in India
13:34fdobridge: <gfxstrand> Sweet. Thanks! Yeah, that's perfect. 💜
17:09fdobridge: <rinlovesyou> i used to play VR on a 970
17:09fdobridge: <rinlovesyou> had to drop render res to like 50%
17:10fdobridge: <Misyl with Max-Q Design> Seems like good perf?
17:54fdobridge: <redsheep> It's rendering 720p so that helps, still it's quite good considering games are often slow regardless. 147 fps in a dx12 title at any resolution is a win
17:55fdobridge: <Sid> ~~*on a desktop 4090*~~
17:55fdobridge: <redsheep> Native 4k at these same high settings yields 35-40 fps
17:56fdobridge: <Sid> when I played the game last year, I was able to do 60-72 fps on medium settings, 1080p native
17:56fdobridge: <Sid> granted, prop driver, but also laptop 1660Ti
17:56fdobridge: <redsheep> I haven't usually seen that having a 4090 does much, maybe that's starting to change though
18:00fdobridge: <magic_rb.> 4090 👀 how chonky is that card
18:05fdobridge: <!DodoNVK (she) 🇱🇹> Chonky enough for native 8K gaming in certain cases
18:21fdobridge: <redsheep> If you mean physically, yeah it's pretty big https://www.msi.com/Graphics-Card/GeForce-RTX-4090-GAMING-X-TRIO-24G/Specification
18:25fdobridge: <redsheep> Interestingly I'd say the biggest issue with 8k gaming is broken games and running out of all 24 GB of vram, not any actual limitation of the performance, more often than not.
23:40fdobridge: <airlied> @gfxstrand seeing thread '<unnamed>' panicked at ../src/nouveau/nil/modifiers.rs:301:54:
23:40fdobridge: <airlied> index out of bounds: the len is 7 but the index is 7
23:40fdobridge: <airlied> but will check I haven't missed anything
23:40fdobridge: <gfxstrand> That sounds like an old branch
23:40fdobridge: <gfxstrand> I had that same panic and it's definitely fixed in the current branch.
23:41fdobridge: <gfxstrand> But note the branch has changed. It's now nvk/modifiers in my tree. I stopped using Mohammed's branch.
23:42fdobridge: <gfxstrand> I'm hoping to start fixing that once modifiers are in
23:42fdobridge: <samantas5855> wait really?
23:42fdobridge: <samantas5855> wasn't maxwell be released in 2015
23:42fdobridge: <samantas5855> that's like 8/9 years
23:43fdobridge: <samantas5855> wasn't maxwell 2 released in 2015 (edited)
