15:47maccraft123: imirkin_: have you ever saw a nvidia datasheet?
15:48imirkin_: only ones they publish online
15:48imirkin_: aka marketing brochures
16:41b1uehun73r: very useful one pagers (sigh)
16:43Tashtari: Not 100% sure this is a nouveau question, but `aplay -L` shows that my NVidia card has four HDMI audio outputs (hdmi:CARD=NVidia,DEV=0 up through DEV=3), and only the DEV=1 one appears to output anything. Any idea what the other three might be for/
16:44imirkin_: the other CRTC's
16:44imirkin_: basically you can have up to 4 monitors
16:44imirkin_: and i _think_ you can output a separate audio stream for each one
16:45Tashtari: Hmm. For outputs, my card has DVI, HDMI, and VGA, just three, and of those, I think only HDMI can carry an audio stream (unless DVI can too).
16:46imirkin_: that's not relevant
16:46karolherbst: Tashtari, imirkin_: it's a common issue with the driver
16:46karolherbst: well alsa driver
16:46karolherbst: it overreports the amount of audio outputs
16:46imirkin_: if it's a kepler+ board, it has up to 4 heads
16:46karolherbst: on my intel I have 5 HDMI audio outputs :)
16:46imirkin_: karolherbst: hm, is that what the component thing was supposed to fix?
16:46imirkin_: from takashi
16:47Tashtari: It's a GT218, for what it's worth.
16:47imirkin_: hm. that would only have 2 CRTC's
16:47karolherbst: imirkin_: no idea, I didn't follow anything on that
16:47karolherbst: I just now it's an issue :)
16:47imirkin_: Tashtari: anyways, i wouldn't worry too much about it
16:47imirkin_: find the one that works, and be happy that it does :p
16:47Tashtari: Yeah, it's not really an issue, I'm just curious.
16:48karolherbst: I think the "audio device" reports it can handle up to X streams, but how that's wired is up to the GPU... and I think stuff can even be rewired dynamically
16:48imirkin_: i never looked into the audio stuff in detail
16:49karolherbst: think about USB-3 HDMI connectors
16:49imirkin_: i'm just very happy when it works
