00:01Lyude: ahhh, figured something out. finally :)
00:16codedmart: Lyude: What editor do you use?
00:16Lyude: codedmart: neovim-gtk
00:17Lyude: but I got it working just now using some dark magic
00:17codedmart: I have never used frontends to vim/nvim.
00:17Lyude: this one's alright, definitely could use some work on some stuff though (text selection could be better, better context menus for stuff like spelling, etc.)
00:18Lyude: but I forgot about those things once I learned the keybindings for them :P
02:15codedmart: Lyude: By the way I am in no hurry. I don't even expect you to fix it. I appreciate any, and all help anyone provides. But I also respect most do this on their own time. So no expectations at all.
22:36Lyude: codedmart: ugh. dropbox has gotten so much worse, do you think you can send me those logs over email?
22:38Lyude: it's not letting me access them because I need a dropbox under the name lyude at redhat D0t com, and that's only an alias to my actual red hat email which dropbox doesn't seem to understand so it won't let me sign in with my google account, and I'm not really willing to give out the other red hat address because... reasons
22:39Lyude: either way, I started taking a look at the issues I'm seeing with the nvidia chip on my X1 Extreme 2nd gen and it looks like world famous, classic runtime PM bug that's been affecting a bunch of different machines :\
22:39HdkR: I think the only response is to throw it in the trash
22:39Lyude: we have fixes for this, but they're taking a while to get upstream because there's needed to be so much investigation to figure out what actually causes this problem
22:39Lyude: HdkR: or for lenovo to start using competent gpu vendors...
22:40HdkR: Maybe the 3rd gen will ship the RX 5500M :D
22:40Lyude: HdkR: which will be just as broken
22:40Lyude: because it's a pci bridge issue :\
22:41imirkin_: it'll be broken in a totally different way
22:41HdkR: Oh right, PCI Bridge thing
22:41Lyude: imirkin_: I mean this machine here has a turing gpu
22:41imirkin_: well, we don't really know what the issue is
22:41imirkin_: we just know how to work around it
22:41Lyude: yeah, I know :(
22:41HdkR: Maybe You'll be lucky and they will just ship an Ice Lake chip with 64 EU GPU
22:41imirkin_: and we're too cheap to shell out for a PCI bus analyzer
22:41Lyude: i've been following the threads upstream pretty closely
22:42imirkin_: (i wonder how much those go for? probably like 100-500k?)
22:42Lyude: imirkin_: probably. I'll bet those are prices for renting too, not purchasing. if it's anything like the professional dp equipment
22:42imirkin_: yeah, makes sense
22:43imirkin_: unless you're intel or something
22:43Lyude: I wish intel would let intel employees use their pci analyzers
22:43Lyude: would make this a lot easier
22:44imirkin_: you think they only let walk-ins use it? no employees!
22:45imirkin_: have a sign by the highway ... come by to use our PCI bus analyzer
22:45Lyude: imirkin_: tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if they just rented it and put it in a glass box on display somewhere, probably in front of their pci engineers with a "do not touch" sign on it
22:45Lyude: that's usually how things go there
22:45imirkin_: if they use it, it might break, and they'll have to replace it
22:46imirkin_: i kinda wonder how those things work ... is it like a slot extender with smarts built into it or something?
22:47Lyude: I'm actually not sure
22:47imirkin_: wouldn't be great for laptops
22:47Lyude: https://www.trsrentelco.com/categories/protocol-analyzers/pci-pci-express-protocol-analyzers called it
22:48imirkin_: "request a quote today"
22:48imirkin_: code for "let us figure out how much you're willing to pay for this, and charge you that"
22:52wrl: i really want a thunderbolt protocol analyser
22:53wrl: but it seems like the same issue
22:53wrl: like one company makes it, and "call for a quote"
22:53imirkin_: and you're too cheap to pay for phone service
22:55wrl: imirkin_: i'd have to check my cell plan but i don't think protocol analysers are included in the base monthly rate
22:55imirkin_: i meant in order to call to get the quote in the first place :)
22:56imirkin_: [it was a joke, clearly a weak one]
22:56wrl: imirkin_: i responded with a joke likewise ;)
