15:00karolherbst: mupuf: regrding the fan, it seems like nvidia behaves more or less similiar to us. An when the GPU goes over the critical temperature, it turns the fan off :D
15:02RSpliet: karolherbst: but the million dollar question: does it also turn off the rest of the GPU?
15:03karolherbst: mhhh, interesting question
15:03karolherbst: it's a G84 so that's one of the GPUs with those insane temperature threshold
15:03karolherbst: by stock it's set to 115C, so maybe that's fine
15:03RSpliet: with current temperatures in Europe, that's not a luxury :')
15:04karolherbst: sadly, nvaforcetemp is not supported on the G84 :/
15:06karolherbst: I think I am more surprised by the fact, that OEMs put a 2PIN fan on a GPU and configured the vBIOS so that the driver thinks it's a PWM controlled one
15:06karolherbst: and it's just unfortunate, that 100% PWM speed turns the fan off
15:08karolherbst: fun fact: our fan speed smoothing algorithm inside nouveau makes it so, that the PWM gets set back to 0%, because the RPM readings always returns 0...
