00:02 pmoreau: skeggsb: Hum… maybe the comment to BL_NAME_SIZE should be put on a different line. It compiles fine and does not seem to break any thing, but it seems weird that it does, as the comment ends up being part of the definition of the macro. Except if the preprocessor is comments aware?
00:16 RSpliet: pmoreau: oh I so look forward to the first bug report of someone who has more than 99 backlights :-D
09:17 pmoreau: RSpliet: Ah ah ah ah ah ah!! :-D
09:20 pmoreau: skeggsb said that "it's basically impossible, the vbios only has up to 16 dcb entries", so to get more than 99 backlights, there needs to be a big screw up somewhere
09:21 pmoreau: I get two backlight interfaces on my laptop, because when switching to the discrete GPU, both are considered viable for having a backlight due to the VBIOS not being properly reconfigured, but it doesn’t matter too much, as the mux is the one really controlling the backlight
09:29 karolsummer: who plans to go to fosdem by the way?
09:37 pmoreau: Hum… no plans yet.
09:43 karolherbst: I see
09:44 karolherbst: I mean, it is in a few weeks :D
09:44 pmoreau: I am still at the point where Christmas is (kinda) far away in the future xD
09:44 karolherbst: uhhh
09:44 karolherbst: you might to look at your calendar from time to time :p
09:44 karolherbst: *Want
09:45 pmoreau: Well, it’s in a few weeks as well
09:45 karolherbst: basically 2
09:45 pmoreau: That’s more than 1 :-D
09:45 pmoreau: And even greater than a few days
09:46 karolherbst: sure
09:47 pmoreau: So, it’s far ahead by definition ;-)
09:47 karolherbst: true
09:47 karolherbst: anyway, I plan to go to fosdem next year :p
09:48 pmoreau: K :-)
09:48 pmoreau: If there was a graphics dev room, I would most likely go, but since there isn’t one, I am not so sure. I will have to think about it.
09:50 karolherbst: ohh I only go there for the fun and drinking :p I think I don't even care about the talks as much to begin with, have to check if there is something interesting, but this won't change my decision
10:05 mupuf_: karolherbst: fun!
10:26 karolherbst: mupuf_: do you plan to go to fosdem?
10:28 mupuf_: karolherbst: no plans, no :s
10:28 mupuf_: I think I would rather have a coding week end, this is what I miss the most right now :D
10:29 mupuf_: So, another fan management issue
10:29 mupuf_: luckily, it just seems that we either get the clock tree wrong ... or we try to set the wrong frequency (bios parsing issue)
10:29 mupuf_: talking about fdo 98852
10:30 karolherbst: we could do it at fosdem
10:30 mupuf_: actually, it may just be that we do not find a PWM fan
10:30 mupuf_: well, that could be an option :D
10:30 mupuf_: Coding holiday at Fosdem :D
10:31 mupuf_: Or I could come to your place to do a power management hacking session (or the opposite, since I have more hw)
10:31 karolherbst: I don't have the infrastructure here yet, and I doubt we could do it at the ccchh place yet
10:32 karolherbst: there they have everything though
10:32 mupuf_: nah, I can't anyway
10:33 karolherbst: k
14:33 karolherbst: yay, another gm108 without issues :)
15:15 pmoreau: :-)
15:53 AndrewR: Hi. I seems to have some strange problem with nv50 OpenGL driver, at least from mozilla's perspective: it started to demand transform_feedback2, and this extensions seems to be not exposed..even if mesamatrix list both transform_feedback2 and 3 as supported. May be some other extension is missed?
15:54 imirkin_: AndrewR: it's unsupportable on G80-G98
15:54 imirkin_: iirc you have a G92?
15:54 imirkin_: fwiw blob doesn't support it either
15:54 imirkin_: we should support it on GT21x (and G200 i think)
15:55 AndrewR: imirkin_, ok, then I hope there is way to switch mozilla back to old WebGL engine/path
15:57 AndrewR: imirkin_, yes, g92. I also briefly tested some another nvidia card (friend asked me to fix his machine) - for some nv98 / G100 video decoding on vp3 worked 'out-of-box' ..
15:58 imirkin_: also while we used to advertise ARB_transform_feedback3, after many attempts to fix it, i've decided that the hw can't do it at all pre-nvc0. the blob tends to agree with my assessment as well.
15:59 imirkin_: i figured they were just lazy, but the hw plain can't do it.
15:59 AndrewR: imirkin_, I can only hope I will not forced to find new(er) card just for mozilla :}
16:00 imirkin_: i think that "advanced" tf stuff was part of DX10.1, so none of the early-DX10 gpu's can do it
16:00 imirkin_: (don't quote me on that though)
16:00 AndrewR: imirkin_, ok
16:06 AndrewR: WebGL Renderer nouveau -- Gallium 0.4 on NV92 - there was pref. about webgl2 in about:config. Solved..for now.
16:08 imirkin_: oh, also various renderers have been starting to use multithreading and banning nouveau, since it crashes
17:03 whompy: Has anyone expressed enough interest in opening that can of worms? Last I checked, it sounded obnoxious enough that nobody wanted to work on it.
17:05 ajax: i'd be interested, i suppose, but i don't have time for it atm
17:15 imirkin_: whompy: the multithreading thing? skeggsb is giving it a shot.
17:58 whompy: Interesting. Thanks!
22:58 karolherbst: https://github.com/blog/2291-introducing-review-requests :D
22:58 karolherbst: ohh crap
22:58 karolherbst: only for PRs :(
22:58 karolherbst: would be fun to do that for branches
