07:39shelter: instead of spamming the issue regarding indiana jones TGC stutter. I havent found a way to fix it. tried many radv options. it does however seem to like the experimental transfer_queue but it does not remove the stutter. AMDVLK and Adrenaline in Windows is fine...
07:41shelter: not sure what i can provide, i did enable some shader/info stats in radv but it didnt print anything during the stutter
07:53Venemo: shelter: the best way to move forward with that is open an issue on the mesa gitlab (if you haven't already)
07:54Venemo: shelter: stuttering in general can be caused by many things and it's better to have that conversation on gitlab, otherwise the info will just be buried in this chat
07:56shelter: venemo: i have.. but just thought i'd mention it here as a sidenote, as it doesnt really add anything new apart from the transfer_queue (which didnt fix it) there is already information in the issue
07:57shelter: Venemo: the game didnt support save game sharing (at least runar didnt get it to work) so it might be difficult to troubleshoot unless you play the game
07:59Venemo: shelter: well, then please give me the link to the issue and let's continue there
07:59shelter: will some sort of caputure help you ? RGP?
08:01shelter: Venemo: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/13901
08:07Venemo: shelter: I don't have a good answer at the moment. this issue is new to me.
08:07Venemo: stuttering can be typically caused by shader compilation (not the case here), or memory operations (may be the case here), ie. when the game needs to wait for some data to be moved in or out of VRAM.
08:08shelter: Venemo: yeah, i'd bet on memory too. not that i know anything but maybe amdvlk does better caching or something
08:10Venemo: the two drivers have fundamentally different behaviour with how they handle some things. I think both just went for what seemed best to them at the time, and for both you can find disadvantages or cases they don't handle well
08:11shelter: valid point.. but i did not see any shader compilation, like you said, we can rule that out
08:13shelter: it does not make the game unplayable, its fine, just annoying when it happend, the video really shows a worse case scenario
08:56Venemo: shelter: yes, I understand these issues seem to be annoying. you can believe me when I say they are equally (or more) annoying for us to debug
08:56Venemo: shelter: I added a few thoughts to the issue report, let's continue the discussion there.
09:02shelter: OK
