09:48ghjk: Hi, I have a problem with instinct mi100 which exactly the one this user has https://github.com/ROCm/ROCm/issues/2927 but my motherboard doesn't seem to have SR-IOV :( Could someone please tell me the motherboard (and cpu?) requirements for this card?
09:49ghjk: Or maybe there's some irc channel that is more suitable for such questions? I used #amdgpu in freenode long time ago but now seems like they moved somewhere...
10:02Venemo: ghjk: I think this is the correct channel, and either mareko or agd5f will know the answer to your question, however they are living in an American time zone, so you need to give them time to reply to your question
10:12ghjk: Venemo: thanks!
12:12tursulin: https://paste.debian.net/1315823/ - splat on amdgpu module probe - is this known?
12:14tursulin: fwiw appears to be caused by amdgpu_bo_release_notify running genuinely before amdgpu_ttm_set_buffer_funcs_status has enabled the buffer funcs but I coudln't
12:14tursulin: easily figure out if it is a regression what caused it
13:44agd5f: ghjk, -12 is -ENOMEM. Most likely your bios does not support large BARs. The MI parts only support large BARs so you need a bios that will support that. Also the MI boards are passively cooled so you need a case with a suitable blower to cool the card.
13:56ghjk: agd5f: thanks!! Could you please tell me how it's called for consumers? This is "resizable BAR" feature, right?
13:57ghjk: do I also need SR-IOV?
13:57prOMiNd: in most boards its called Resize BAR, asrock calls it C.A.M IIRC
13:57agd5f: ghjk, I don't know if resizeable bar will handle it or not, that might work. Most servers support large BARs
13:57ghjk: adavy:, prOMiNd: thanks, I'll try that
13:58agd5f: basically you need enough MMIO space for the BARs on the device. The MI boards don't support small BARs so the bios needs to be able to deal with large bars directly
14:04prOMiNd: I get instant freeze on a system using latest ROCK-Kernel-Driver or dkms from repo.radeon.com on Polaris GPU when starting blender or other app which uses OpenCL, unfortunately its hard freeze and nothing is seen on screen so I can't provide logs...
14:31KitsuWhooa: There might also be an option called "Above 4G Decoding" which if enabled should also work
17:59_ds_: Looks like prOMiNd needs to make use of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Netconsole
