14:37nsuns: Will there ever be decent mesa driver support for mali gpus like equivalent to freedreno? Or best to just give up.. we'll forever be stuck buying overpriced snapdragon h/w.
14:39soreau: panfrost?
14:54nsuns: There doesn't seem to be any videos on youtube of yuzu emu running on panfrost, so can only assume it's not there yet. Everyone uses turnip. :/
14:57CounterPillow: nsuns: Arm has just recently announced a partnership with Collabora that seems to amount to making all future mali GPU drivers open as part of panthor/panfrost.
14:58CounterPillow: Panfrost supports OpenGL ES 3.1 already, and Vulkan support is being worked on for v10+ hardware.
15:01CounterPillow: Yuzu's problem in particular appears to be a requirement for OpenGL 4.6 or Vulkan 1.1, neither of which Panfrost supports (right now). Vulkan 1.1 is probably feasible on v10+ (e.g. rockchip rk3588)
15:06CounterPillow: If you wanna play along at home and help develop panfrost further, your average RK3588(S) board will run you between $100 and $200. ROCK5B seems to be the SBC Collabora's people are using as a dev platform right now. Here's their draft MR for v10 support in mesa https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/26358
15:06CounterPillow: This depends on an in-progress kernel patchset, and the whole thing also needs some way to output video which is a WIP patchset, and CPU reclocking also isn't mainline yet, so it's all very bleeding edge right now :)
