01:23sajattack: Hi, I'm trying to get the powervr bxe-4-32 vulkan mesa driver working on the visionfive2 riscv dev board. Is this an ok place to chat about that?
01:26alyssa: sajattack: #powervr
01:27sajattack: ok thanks I'll move there
17:10Mershl[m]: Can someone more proficient with RADV help with #6875? We have feedback from the game dev, which suggests this being a RADV specific issue.
17:10Mershl[m]: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/6875#note_1982310
17:12pendingchaos: isn't that comment saying that it's a MSVC bug? and some people say it also hangs with amdvlk
17:13Mershl[m]: Hmmm, though the game dev (an engine dev at Larian studios) is sure that it's a RADV bug.
17:16pendingchaos: that's not what I got from the comment
17:16pendingchaos: it sounds like it's a MSVC bug where memcpy makes incorrect alignment assumptions, that can apparently be worked around in RADV
17:17mattst88: dcbaker: we should have a mesa-23.2 RC now, right?
17:18dcbaker: We should, but the I cannot get the CI to turn green :(
17:18mattst88: oh, dang
17:22Mershl[m]: <pendingchaos> "it sounds like it's a MSVC bug..." <- reading through it again. You're right. Is this something RADV **wants** to workaround or shall we wait for an eventual game update?
17:22DavidHeidelberg[m]: dcbaker: can I offer you a color can? :D also old B&W crts with orange or green was working particularly well for turning everything green
17:22dcbaker: David Heidelberg: lol
17:29mattst88: dcbaker: want to give your opinion in https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/23981 ?
17:33dcbaker: mattst88: Thanks for reminding me to look at that
19:59pcercuei: sravn: dim doesn't like the panel-samsung-ld9040 patch, it says that the commit ID passed to the Fixes: tag is too long
19:59pcercuei: It says Fixes: c2268daa65fb4, while "dim cite c2268daa65fb4" says c2268daa65fb (aka. one character less)
20:00pcercuei: Should I just tweak it before applying?
21:46sravn: pcercuei: Yep, stuff like this is fine to fix without any further comments
21:47pcercuei: ok, thanks
22:57DemiMarie: Is there an ETA for Xe replacing i915? I ask because I imagine that features like virtGPU native contexts will only be available in Xe.
23:40Kayden: I think the hope is to use it as the only kernel driver for the next round of GPUs (after meteorlake)
23:41Kayden: I believe it's going to support alchemist/tigerlake/etc. too but both i915 and xe would exist there, so it's sort of up to people what they want, kind of like how iris and i965 were both available options
23:42Kayden: apparently we have it running games and working surprisingly well
