Overview

The Elan touchpad is registered as Smart-Pad. It provides, in addition to the usual mouse buttons operation, a rich set of usable features to enhance an user’s productivity. These additional features, includes Rock Switches Function, Multi-finger Gesture, Scrolling …etc.

One major feature in Smart-Pad is the Multi-finger Gesture. When it’s enabled, a single finger touching the pad can simulate the left mouse button function while two fingers simulate mouse middle (wheel) button function, and three fingers simulate the right mouse button function.

Accessories

The Smart-Pad detects finger contact by capacitive sensing (it is not sensitive to heat or applied force). When the fingers approach the pad, it alters the electric field on the pad’s surface. The Elan Smart-Pad sensor is customized circuit board with a matrix of conductive traces printed on the surface. A special chip at the back of the Smart-Pad continuously monitors the capacitance change of the traces and determines the presence and location of your fingertip.

To get the most out of your Smart-Pad, make sure that both the Smart-Pad driver and application software are installed. Upon successful installation, a new Smart-Pad control tab will be added to the Mouse Properties dialog.
