X.org Board of Directors Meeting summary of Tuesday 2010-02-02. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Official log: https://members.x.org/minutes/xorg-board-2010-02-02.txt Location is #xf-bod@irc.oftc.net, timeframe of meeting unknown. Attending board members: Alan Coopersmith, Eric Anholt, Bart Massey, Donnie Berkholz, Matthieu Herrb. Absent board members: Daniel Stone, Carl Worth, Adam Jackson. Bart wants to start the elections as soon as possible, the election slate is complete, and he asks Alan to set up the ballot system for it. Bart wants to start right away, and have it last two weeks, but Alan remarks "were we opening voting right away? I thought there was a "grill the candidates" period first, but perhaps I'm misremembering", to which Bart replies "There was, but at this point I just want to get it done" and "AFAIK it isn't required by the bylaws, and people are welcome to grill the candidates during the voting period." All present agree that 2 weeks duration is sufficient. Alan asks whether affiliations should be listed, but Bart states "I don't think the affiliations need be listed. It's not supposed to matter, in general. :-)". Alan adds "except for the 3 from Intel, who can't all win", to which Bart replies "But I kind of hate to have that influence who people want." Alan then explains the situation with Sun being taken over by Oracle, that it is not an issue as maximally 2 oracle/sun employees can get on the board (he and Stuart Kreitman) and that he will make an announcement about the change in affiliation once the transition is complete. Bart then remarks "Honestly, there's only one candidate running whom I would be unhappy with, and he won't win. :-) So I think we're good.", "Once this election is over, we'll get a group together to do another purge of the member roll. There's clearly still some people there who shouldn't be. :-(" Alan noticed that Matthieu put XDC information up in the wiki, and wonders when the announcement will happen. Matthieu will have time to do that on friday or at FOSDEM, as he has no time before this point. This leaves a 7 months notice for people to arrange travel. No motions were presented, no voting took place.
