X.org Board of Directors Meeting summary of Wednesday 2009-01-14. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Official log: https://members.x.org/minutes/xorg-board-2009-01-14.txt Location is #xf-bod@irc.oftc.net, timeframe of meeting unknown. Attending board members: Bart Massey, Eric Anholt, Carl Worth, Keith Packard, Adam Jackson Absent board members: Matthieu Herb, Egbert Eich, Daniel Stone. Meeting starts with Bart and Eric, and both actively try to involve Keith, Adam and Carl, who turn up eventually. Carl notices that the election got forgotten again, and sets off to start new elections [call for nominations gets sent out the same day], the schedule seems to have slipped by two weeks. Bart starts work on the annual report of the state of the foundation [sent out on the 2009-02-01]. Some financials have been dealt with, Eric hopes that there would finally be bank account with reliable access, Keith then states that he just mailed out some checks. The corporate transition of the X.org foundation is mentioned, it is hoped that Keith got involved there, but Keith seems unsure what to do, instead Bart will send an email to the lawyer at SFLC responsible for the X.org Foundation, Karen. Bart tells Keith to make progress on both topics and on getting a financial report out [report was never sent afaict]. XDC 2009 in Portland is the major topic of the meeting. Keith says that Intel wants to sponsor, the location will apparently be PSU (Portland State University, Bart's employer), the timeframe will be around the Linux Plumbers Conference. The dates for this event are unclear, "mid-September sometime", but LPC seems to be a "Thursday-Saturday", so XDC is decided to be Monday-Wednesday, which gives people a weekend off. Keith expects fewer attendees due to stricter travel budgets, Bart suggest "to be more aggressive about funding people we want", Keith expects higher costs due to having to sponsor more Europeans, Bart states "I don't think we should worry too much about the Europeans in general". Dates need to still be tracked down for LPC. Keith and Bart then continue to discuss the conference room, hotel possibilities, and catering. Bart brings up SCALE (Southern California Linux Expo) and that X could have a free booth there, but that he believes that no-one is interested . Keith wonders whether the members list could be asked as no-one really can get the travel budget. Bart mentions sponsoring, but Keith says that this is contra-productive and that there are no X.org members in the vicinity, both conclude that stitting in a booth is "sucky" and that only portland has enough developer mass. No motions were presented, no voting took place.
