Inside an X request

• Every request contains:

  • Request Id (1 byte)
    • 1 – 127 are requests in the original core X protocol
    • 128-255 are used by extensions, each extension is assigned one entry at runtime, view with “xdpyinfo -queryExtensions”
  • Data (1 byte)
    • Usually used as request id for extensions
  • Length of entire request

• Defined in <X11/Xproto.h> and similar headers for each extension
